On Saturday 29th March the Letchworth Garden City Camera Club held their annual exhibition in the main hall at the Letchworth Settlement, just yards from our regular meeting room.
The opening of the Exhibition took place on the evening before and was open to members of the club and invited guests. This is traditionally where we present our annual awards and certificates.
The presentations were hosted by Club Chairman, Garry Neesam, who started off with two special awards to recognise the work of two previous Committee members.
John Sanderson was the Programme Secretary for a number of years prior to stepping down in October 2013. The current Committee wanted to recognise the hard work and dedication shown by John in putting together the annual programme of events and meetings, which is probably the hardest job in the club.
Garry presented John with an Amazon token which we hope John can put to good use to stock up his photography library.
Robert Staddon was the chairman for nigh on twenty five years before retiring last October. The Club wanted to show its debt of gratitude for many years’ service to the club and it’s members and we felt the best way of doing this was the awarding of a Lifetime Honorory Membership. Robert was presented with a certificate to mark the award.
Certificates were awarded for placings of ‘Commended’, ‘Highly Commended’, Third, Secons and First in the classes of Procected Image of the Year, Monochrome Print of the Year and Colour Print of the Year.
The Projected Image of the Year Award went to John Dingemans for his image of a lekking capercaillie
Monochrome Print of the Year went to Garry Neesam for his black and white portrait entitled ‘Felicity’.
Colour Print of the Year went to John Dingemans for his print of a brown hare.
Projected Image Photographer of the year was Kirsten Gifkins
Monochrome Print Photographer of the Year was Garry Neesam
Colour Print Photographer of the Year was Garry Neesam.
The full awards list can be seen below.
